The GMAT is a prerequisite for most MBA programs worldwide.
Our courses include an overview of the tests and their format, three
computer simulations of the full test, a review of the typical pitfalls
–and ways to avoid them, essay workshops, guided practice and
enthusiastic teachers who motivate you to get the highest score you can.
Taking
the test for the first time can be difficult, even confusing because of
the kind of questions you will be asked. Some people waste a lot of
time trying to understand what they are being asked for. At THE GRAD SCHOOL
we have the software necessary to take mock tests, and all of our
teachers are familiar with the kind of questions you will be asked.
After taking the course you will see that you will be more comfortable
with the structure of the exam itself, which will help you gain
confidence, precious time and a good score.
If you prepare the GMAT with us you will also be entitled, free of charge, to our Mentor Program.
QUANTITATIVE COMPONENT
The quantitative component demands from the candidate knowledge of a
wide variety of areas like arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data
sufficiency, etc. The complexity of the questions is not the main
problem: the real problem is the number of concepts that you have to be
comfortable with and the time constraint. Throughout the course we will
review all the subjects evaluated by the GMAT, the teacher will also
provide you with important hints and tips that will make a difference
when you take the test. Together we will review both the theory and the
exercises that usually appear on the actual exams.
The GMAT
is known for the time constraints put on the test takers. You have to
be able to reason in seconds, to quickly distinguish between the right
and the wrong answers. The teachers at THE GRAD SCHOOL
are aware of that, so we work in order to help you to gain speed and to
develop the intuition you need. During the course we study the typical
test questions in order to help you know the things you first have to
consider while answering to help you avoid wasting precious time.
We
will work on what the quickest most vital procedures are and what not
to do while taking the test and, finally, we will help you develop you
intuition.
VERBAL COMPONENT
The
verbal component tests your command of the English language and
the conventions of standard written English; it evaluates your ability
to draw reasonable conclusions from arguments and your ability to
understand and criticize them; it tests your ability to read carefully
and accurately and to draw reasonable conclusions from a written
passage.
Like on the
quantitative section, time pressure is also important on the verbal
section of the GMAT. However, since English is a second language for
most Colombian students, the verbal component of the GMAT poses an
added challenge.
Teachers at THE GRAD SCHOOL
are aware of that, so we work on helping you gain speed, confidence and
to develop the intuition you need. We will work on a very large amount
of exercises in order to help you know the kind of questions you will
be asked, the things you first have to consider while answering in
order to help you avoid wasting precious time. We will work on what the
short procedures are and what not to do while taking the test.
THE ESSAYS
At THE GRAD SCHOOL
we teach you the keys to maximize the score on the essays. Our
curriculum features writing classes specifically geared for the GMAT
and GRE Essays. Since the Argument and Issue Essays are two quite
different tasks, we teach you the winning approach to each.
The Issue Essay asks you to take a position on a complex issue.
The
Argument essay requires you to analyze the feasibility of the stated
argument, to criticize it and suggest what may make it stronger.
Good clear writing is required on both essays, the only difference between them is the approach you take.
At THE GRAD SCHOOL
we teach you how to boost your essay score by helping you both
understand the most effective approach to the questions and improve the
clarity of your writing. THE GRAD SCHOOL instructors work with you on improving the structure, organization, word choice and diction of your writing.
