The
University of BATH can trace its origins back to the Bristol Trade
School in 1856. The mission articulated in the Royal Charter of 1966 is
"to advance in learning and knowledge by teaching and research,
particularly in science and technology, and in close association with
industry and commerce".
The university remains firmly commited
to carrying out teaching and research which is challenging, innovative
and, above all, relevant to real world applications.
The
University academic departments, with the exception of the School of
Management and the School of Health, are grouped in three Faculties:
FACULTY
OF ENGINEERING & DESIGN, which comprises Architecture & Civil
Engineering, Chemical Engineering; Electronic & Electrical
Engineering; Mechanical Engineering.
FACULTY OF HUMANITIES AND
SOCIAL SCIENCES, which comprises Economics & International
Development; Education; European Studies and Modern Languages;
Psycology; Social and Policy Sciences.
FACULTY OF SCIENCE which
comprises Biology & Biochemistry; Chemistry; Computer Science;
Mathematical Sciences; Pharmacy & Pharmachology; Physics
The
University of Bath achieved impressive scores in the last Research
Assessment Excercise (RAE). 71% of its research active staff achieved a
grade of 5 or 5* demonstrating research of international
excellence across the Univeristy´s discipline base. The Univeristy has
continued to perform well in other league tables and rankings, with 13
subject areas in the top 10 of the Times Good University Guide 2009.

75 £3000 apiece - offered by the International Office plus funds from other

for 3 years.

addition, for Colombian students the University of Bath has entered
into and agreement with COLFUTURO. Those students who register for a Taught
Masters Programme and are also beneficiaries of COLFUTURO will recieve
a 15% of discount of their tuition fees, in addition to the benefits
